Students have been practising hard, with the direction and assistance from teachers and education assistants, to be ready for the Faction Sports days. Wednesday 16th March is when the jumps, long distance running and tug-of-war will take place. Friday 18th March will be the main carnival with races for all age groups plus team events such as leaderball.
This semester's Faction Captains and Vice Captains are being kept busy helping their fellow team members prepare for Faction Sports Day. Well done for being chosen for this important role - Mackenzie, James, Brian, Ella, Callum, Eliza, Chloe and Tayla. Congratulations to students Charly, Sophie, Annabella, Kiera, Jackson and Rex who were chosen by their peers and staff to be school councillors for Semester 1.
Congratulations to the award recipients at the final assembly. It is wonderful to know that Capel has so many talented students who also happen to be pleasant, courteous and helpful.
The school is very appreciative of the physical assistance that it receives in many different ways, from its parents and friends. From help in the classroom and library, to clubs and excursions, parents and friends provide valuable extra pairs of hands, knowledge and friendly smiles. A luncheon provided by the staff was held to thank them.
Capel students interacted with students from our sister city in Japan, Setagaya recently. Highlights included playing cricket and football games with the students, and then watching them perform in the assembly area. They sang 'We still call Australia home', played their recorders, and performed a martial arts dance. A tree and plaque were also presented to Mr Crabbe for the school.
The library continues to be popular at lunchtime with students enjoying puzzles, games, construction sets as well as computers.
Congratulations to the Year Ones in Room 8 for a wonderful 'WaterWise' assembly. The children were all dressed in blue to represent water. They sang the song 'My island Home' while a slideshow presenting facts about the largest water sources in the world played.
Children from Kindy group 13A love this time of year when the sun shines and they get to have water play every day at Kindy. And packing up is not a problem because then they get to fill the watering cans from the water play tables, and water the garden. Lots more fun! Good on you Kindy kids.
What a lovely day to walk to school - early morning sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.
A large number of students, parents and teachers, and the occasional dog, enjoyed being pedestrians this morning. Some students came by their regular transport - bicycle or scooter - another healthy means of getting to school. |
