📘 2025 School Board Elections

Meet the parents nominating for the Capel Primary School Board election and read their short profiles before you vote.
Name
School Board nominee profile
Katrina Mullany
My name is Katrina Mullany, and I have been a proud member of the Capel Primary community since 2018, with my son finishing his primary school journey last year and my daughter currently in year 1. Over the past several years, I have been actively involved in the school’s P&C, serving as a dedicated member since 2018 and currently as the P&C President.
Through this involvement, I have had the privilege of working closely with families, staff, and students to support school initiatives, strengthen community engagement, and help create a positive and inclusive environment for all.
I would like to join the School Board to continue contributing to the growth and success of our school. I am passionate about ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive, and I believe collaboration between parents, staff, and leadership is key to achieving that. As a parent representative, I aim to bring the perspectives and voices of our families to the table, advocate for transparent decision-making, and help shape a strong future for our school community.

Alana Marshall

I have lived in the Shire of Capel for 10 years and feel fortunate to have started my family here. We’ve enjoyed being a part of the Capel Playgroup, local sporting clubs, and since 2022, when my eldest began Kindy, have proudly been part of the CPS community. I’ve witnessed the care and compassion of staff first-hand, and developed a deep appreciation for our small but mighty school. With a background in business administration and my youngest child starting full-time school next year, I am keen to contribute more meaningfully to our school’s ongoing success.

Cj Aston
I work in the community development space, focusing on the early years, and I’m passionate about bringing people together to create inclusive and better outcomes for children and parents. I currently serve as the Vice Chair on the People Place Board and as Secretary of the Peppermint Grove Beach Community Association, and was recognised as the 2024 South West Volunteer of the Year for my work with the Tuart Forest Toy Library. I am seeking to continue on the school board to help strengthen the connection between early years development and school life, something I’m really passionate about, because I believe strong community partnerships and inclusion help every child and family get the best start and continue to thrive.
Michelle Carr

I am a primary school teacher with over 12 years of experience across several regional schools. I previously served on the Treendale Primary School Board from 2014 to 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed being part of a collaborative team. I have three children — Amarlia, who is in Pre-Primary this year; Mackenzie, who will begin her Capel PS journey in Kindy next year; and Aurora, who is 8 months old and attends the local daycare. I am passionate about education and ensuring all children have access to a safe, engaging school environment that nurtures their emotional, mental, physical, social and academic growth. I would love to contribute to the Capel Primary School Board as a voice for parents, carers and families within our school community.
Emily Cooper
I live locally with two children at Capel Primary school, and love the community feel of the school. I have experience working in local government roles with an analytical and problem solving background. As your board representative, I hope to reflect the values of the parental community and support the school to achieve it's visions and goals.
David Smith
My four children have all attended Capel Primary School, with two moving onto Bunbury Baptist College. I have enjoyed being part of their school journey, volunteering through their time at Capel Soccer Club and the School board for the last two years. I would like to be in the school board to remain actively involved in growth of the school and providing another viewpoint of parents and caregivers.
