Digital Technologies
At Capel Primary school we want to be able to enhance students' ability and opportunity to interact with digital technologies to diversify their learning experiences. A strong commitment to using Technology as a learning and engagement tool is clearly evident within the school and improvements to the classroom infrastructure and the purchase of new equipment further supports the schools Technology strategy. Capel students from Year 1-6 have access to computers at a ratio of 2:1, Interactive Whiteboards in each room, document cameras, a computer laboratory in the library, digital cameras and video cameras for class work and movie making projects.
The school has 20 Wireless access points throughout the school to provide a seamless wireless network so students can access their work on B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Device) and other school managed portable devices. Students are provided with an XO device or iPad to use in each class from PP to Yr 3. In Year 4-6 students can BYOD to connect to the school's wireless network. At this stage we have been trialling many different devices however it appears that iPads have been the most reliable device.
